Fall 2009...well underway.

So classes are in full swing, recruitment is over, Fraternity and IGC events are in full swing, and the New Member class is going strong. My schedule is pretty hectic, but its great to know that i have my brothers and all my other friends t help me wind down at the end of a long week.

Just picked up tickets to go to a Kid Cudi concert in Binghamton on Saturday night, pretty pumped for that. Chi Phi has a chapter out at Binghamton University, so i think the brothers that I'm going with are gonna go hang out with them before the show. Its good to know that i have somewhere to go and somone to turn to if i need help at all out there, even though i'm an hour away from school.

IGC is going really well, making lots of positive changes to many of the processes and events that we hold. Its always tought to make changes to the way that things have happened in the past, but change is good sometimes and it makes things interesting.

Greek Week!!

And so it begins. A hectic week that’s filled with almost anything you can think of. Started out with a little dodge ball and kickball today, which was actually a lot of fun. the day usually starts out with people whining that they have homework to do or just want to sit on the couch, but after about 30 seconds of either watching a or playing dodge ball it’s impossible to not have a great time. And it was really funny to see the high school gym class all starts firing the ball around the gym.

The teams are set up differently this year, with a mix of people from each organization on each team as opposed to organizations playing again each other. It was great to see people from other organizations having a great time with each other and really showing the Greek unity that our school has.

Time for a Change!

well today's the day that IGC E-Board applications are due, which means the face of the Inter-Greek Council will be changing very soon. 9 positions are open to any Greek, and hopefully there are a lot of applications so the best candidate can be picked.

we go home for break tomorrow, so there wont be much going on in the Greek community, but when we come back we've got the rest of the semester packed with events. check back to get a schedule of things going on when we get back. have a great break!

oh snap...

so its been a while since i've blogged last and so much has gone on since then. i obviously cant go into everything so we'll stick with the important stuff:

congrats to the nu's, 7 more members of our fraternity and 7 more brothers. its awesome when another class of guys finishes the process because everyone is just as excited as they are to see that they're done. We all went to neawah park the day after and had a little bbq, played some football, shot some hoops and just hung out. glad to see these kids out having a good time with everyone!

this past weekend we held a pancake breakfast funraiser for the Boy's and Girls Club of Oneonta. We had a tremendous turnout from the community and rasied a good amount of money for the club.

keep an eye out for some of our upcoming events: 5K Walk/Run for Breast Cancer on the morning of Oh-Fest and a fundraiser gold tournament on May 3rd. Come out for some fun and great time, i'll keep you posted with details as the events get closer.

relaxing weekend overall. heart walk on saturday morning, always great to see Greeks out supporting the community service done on our campus. After that, the Lambda Pledge Class had an awesome dinner with the Nu's, great time to just hang out, enjoy some good food and some great company.

Superbowl was awesome as usual, and the food was even better. many people werent even worried about the game and just waiting for their numbers to come up because who doesnt like money?

Spring 2009

And so it begins...

the semester has kicked off, classes are starting, recruitment is over and the spring pledge classes have begun the process. the chi phi fraternity will be 8 men stronger in about 6 weeks and i couldnt be happier.

this was my first semester as the recuitment chair for the fraternity and, although the number isnt as high as past spring semesters, the quality of the guys we've got now is through the roof. we've got kids that are freshmen, sophomores and juniors from all over the state and they're a pretty entertaining bunch. it will be interesting to see how they change into men over the next weeks. good luck nu pledge class!

Mr. and Mrs. Oneonta was awesome last night, the committee did an excellent job and i commend them for all their hard work. It was awesome that there were representatives from so many different organizations across the campus and not just Greek Life. Congrats to the winners, they're both really great people and I think they will represent this college extremely well!

Over the weekend, I was elected Recruitment Chair for the Chi Phi Fraternity so I'm looking for ward to all the work I'm going to be doing in the next couple weeks. I'll be setting up a lot of activities within the next weeks so check back and I'll keep you posted!
